Earlier in the year, during the council's autumn recess, the council's civic cabinet agreed to extend its leasing agreement for the bus fleet with Westpac for another year.

The council finances its bus fleet through leasing to "minimise asset risk that may result from ... changing technology or changes in demand and fleet requirements".

BCC had a three-year leasing agreement with Westpac, due to expire on June 30, and decided to extend the lease agreement another 12 months.
