RAIL Back On Track - Media Release 25 June 2007

Victoria:  Major Program to Improve Level Crossing Safety

RAIL ? Back On Track (http://backontrack.org)  a web based community organisation for the promotion of rail throughout Australia has welcomed the announcement by the Premier of the Victoria of the Major Program to Improve Level Crossing Safety in the State of Victoria.

Robert Dow said:

?The measures announced today will go a long way to improving safety for all. The combination of early warning devices and increased penalties for level crossing infringements are important in changing road users? behaviours.  The other measures announced such as improved vegetation clearance near level crossings, and updated education programs will also complement these improvements.?

?RAIL Back On Track acknowledges the quick response by the Victorian Government, and for their consideration of suggestions from organisations and the public concerned with improving safety.?
