Queensland Rail Commercialisation

Three day poll. Votes may be changed up until poll close. Results visible after voting.

Background

There has been a suggestion that Queensland Rail operate outside of Queensland.

A good example of an agency that does this is RATP France who run the Paris Metro. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RATP_Group

RATP now operates in 14 different countries and these international operations bring in ~70% of RATPs revenues.

This setup, if successful, would actually bring in money for the State of Queensland. Perhaps earning money to put into

transport services locally.  There could also be scope to incorporate Brisbane City Council buses into this scheme if BCC agrees to form a

joint company with the Queensland Government.

What this poll is not: This poll is about operations outside of Queensland. Under this scheme, services within
Queensland would continue to be a public monopoly of Queensland Rail. It is not about selling or contracting out Queensland Rail's Queensland operations.

Another utterly useless poll. Anyway Queensland Rail has already operated outside of Queensland. There is no point now considering it doesn't have the freight and services backing that it once did. All the ARTC and WA contracts it had have been transferred to Aurizon during its split.

And why would or should a state passenger operator operate outside Queensland for? There is nothing in it. There is no return. You can not compare Queensland to what goes on in Europe. Especially considering you can fit the country of Belgium in some farmers backyard.

Foam away boys!!

Ask Gazza?

But look, it is not a bad idea and would welcome it. Happens in Melbourne, Auckland and Wellington. (Keolis is French and runs GC LRT and Melbourne Trams. IIRC TransDev has a French connection as well).

Queensland Rail could be built up to be like RATP, or you could cut that process short and just phone RATP and ask them to come over (to be fair you'd have to run a competition first).
