Strange. Port Adelaide already has a railway station next to a shopping centre. This is just going to split frequency and service along the line to put a train station within 400 m of an existing one.

That's why the previous state Government didn't fund it. Funds can go to better use by further electrifying the existing train network.

From Friday 1 July 2022, new fares will apply for all Adelaide Metro bus, train and tram services.

An indexation rate of 2.5 per cent has been applied to fares and rounded to the nearest five cents. The standard indexation rate takes into account a number of factors, including the Consumer Price Index (CPI).

All passengers can travel cheaper using regular, concession or student metroCARDs rather than MetroTickets. There are even greater savings for frequent passengers using a 14-day or 28-day pass on their metroCARD.

From July 1, 2022 South Australian Seniors Card members can travel for free on Adelaide Metro buses, trains and trams – all day, every day.

If that's the case, it will be the second city after Sydney to get this function city wide.

Inner-east and inner-western suburbs buses are the most unreliable in the city, Adelaide Metro figures show.

One in every ten of the trips on these routes is more than five minutes late, easily eclipsing the best service of less than one in 20 being late in the outer south zone.

Adelaide Metro has released on-time and late services for 2022, but classifying all trips which arrive within five minutes of the scheduled time as "on time".

The inner-west is defined as from the CBD to the coast, and north to the Lefevre Peninsula.

The inner-east runs from Unley to the O-Bahn line.

People for Public Transport spokeswoman Josephine Buckhorn said many services were better than expected but the fact that inner-city times were poor gave services a bad name. ...

Operation of Adelaide's trams and trains has yoyoed back and forth between public and private a few times now.

I would be very surprised if they take buses back in house though.

Rail Express --> SA hybrid trains set for passengers

The South Australian Government  has showcased a clean, green public transport future, with hybrid trains and hydrogen buses to join a full-battery electric bus as the latest technology to be trialled across the network.

Initial testing of a prototype hybrid-diesel railcar is progressing well, with a second railcar fitted with a new energy storage and recovery system. These railcars have been coupled together and the testing of the two-car train set is now underway.

This two-car train set is the first of 44 diesel railcars expected to be fitted with the hybrid system, with the trains to run on the Outer Harbor, Grange and Belair lines. ...

Diesel hybrid train trial

We're currently testing two diesel hybrid trains. The diesel hybrid system recovers excess energy when the train brakes and stores it in a battery for later use. Diesel hybrid trains are more reliable and release less fumes than traditional diesels, reduce fuel consumption by up to 20% and provide a more comfortable journey for passengers.
