Embedded youtube clips - not showing?

Seems something has changed with youtube.

In some browsers embedded youtube videos are not showing up now, just a black block.

There is no generic solution at this time.  Give the nerds a few weeks and something may turn up.

Embedded videos still show in FireFox strangely [ Ed:  apparently not now, may have been caching for a while ].

I suspect that youtube may have generically altered their embed permissions as they want to drive more to their pages for ads etc. I guess.

I have raised the issue with Google youtube help forum and they are now investigating.

Someone has managed to find a fix of sorts for html embedded youtube clips

I do not allow users to use html embed on this forum as it is a major security risk in the wrong hands.

The youtube plugins are still not working correctly.

I have manually edited some youtube clips around the forum so that they now show.

Google youtube are still investigating the issue.

Seems google youtube have made some adjustments and youtube tags seem to be working again.

Youtube has changed their format again.  So youtube embed will not work for now.

Hopefully I can find a solution in time.

Just post links for now eg.   and I will pick up and manually embed.

After a bit of effort youtube has been restored.

Just post a link to the youtube vid, https://etc and will be automatically parsed.

This modification adds a BBCode to our forum that shows a YouTube video in your post.

These BBCode takes these forms:

where width and height is specified by x and y.  If width and height aren't specified, width is 600px of the post display area and height in a 16:9 ratio to the width.

So one final test, remember youtube link must be https:// NOT http://

Also if you have previously posted a youtube video and it is not working, just change the http: to https: and it should then work.
