... Employee Engagement Award: Queensland Rail – SPAD Men and Women Creative Challenge

To increase driver engagement, Queensland Rail developed the SPAD Men and Women campaign (modelled on the popular TV Show Mad Men) designed to have train operators revisit and re-educate themselves about the tools available to prevent SPADS. They were asked to develop a piece of advertising promoting one of the six key driving techniques available to help prevent SPADS. While the competition was running SPAD performance improved significantly (by over 15%), and for the October period was the best ever SPAD rate performance.

In the coming years, employees will see the tangible results of their involvement reflected in the messages they hear and the way SPAD prevention messages are shared, engaging them in a way that no corporately-led message could hope to achieve.
