Bus Reform: Rod Harding promises to add 120 new bus services to BCC bus network

Greetings,

Lord Mayoral challenger Rod Harding has announced that he will add 120 new bus services to the suburbs if elected Lord Mayor at the March 19 Brisbane City Council Elections. We welcome this announcement and other sound policies such as level crossing removals and bus transitways.

The Greens have made a similar pledge. If elected, they would introduce a CentenaryGlider to Brisbane's Western Suburbs running every 10-15 minutes with 24-hour services on Friday and Saturday night.

We call on Rod Harding to clarify where these new buses would be allocated. Brisbane City Council has neglected a number of suburbs - Bulimba, Yeronga, the Centenary Suburbs and the Northwestern Suburbs. New BUZ and CityGlider routes could be created at very low cost with these funds.

Lord Mayor Graham Quirk needs to offer a fuller transport proposal than a metro that would take 10 years or more to deliver, if ever. The Greens and Rod Harding are offering improved bus services, what does the Lord Mayor have to offer?

Bus network reform will deliver more buses to the suburbs by reducing the number of near empty buses clogging up the CBD!

Best wishes
Robert
