How early should BUZ start?

I believe it's generally accepted that BUZ begins at 6am. Considering my recent experience with early morning buses, I'm not sure it's early enough. The 150 departing Browns Plains at 4:45am seems to carry around 25 passengers between Fruitgrove and Garden City most mornings (can't comment on before or after those stops, as that's where I travel). A fair few people get off at GC to transfer to other services, and I see a few get on there, too. Whether they originate there or are transferees, I don't know. There does seem to be a fair bit of demand for early morning transport  which makes me wonder how much goes unsatisfied due to lack of services.

Yes, for a change, my wife caught the Maroon Glider from Ashgrove at 5:40am last Thursday & Friday and she said it was really busy.

Depends on the route. For example there are empty peak hour outbound 340's going through Aspley so it shows how popular they would be early in the morning. Translink addressed this issue in their network review 3-4 years ago.

I do wonder if 340 should be a BUZ in the first place. It doesn't seem like it attracts a massive amount of patronage at any time of the day from some observations I've read, particularly north of Chermside.

I think generally the first inbound service should start so that on weekdays, the first service reaches the CBD by 6am. By 7am on weekends is probably fair. First outbound service should depend on the route.

I believe there is a broad consensus on this forum that the 340 shouldn't be a BUZ to start with. ;)
Is it really that hard to run frequent, reliable public transport?

I just hate the 340 so much haha. The only reason it was buzed was so the busway actually had buses using it.

SurfRail

It was a very ham-fisted solution.  Run the 330 express, but that terminates at the Cultural Centre.  Run the 340 via the 333 stops but now there isn't enough room at the Cultural Centre.  We couldn't revise the rest of the network to fit it in, so we'll just whack it on top.
