Different sources of capital.

Without looking does SunCentral still assume that CAMCOS or something like it will be built (ie is there still provision for rail at Horton Park)?

Media Statement
Premier and Minister for the Arts
The Honourable Annastacia Palaszczuk

Sunshine Coast CBD project to create more than 30,000 jobs

A new central business district (CBD) for the Sunshine Coast is projected to create more than 30,000 jobs by 2040 and boost the Queensland economy by $5.9 billion, Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said.

Speaking at the turning of the sod for SunCentral Maroochydore project, Premier Palaszczuk said the project would cement the Sunshine Coast as one of Queensland's and Australia's best performing regional economies.

"SunCentral is designed to cater for growth in the region. The Sunshine Coast region's population is expected to grow from 335,800 people to half a million by 2040," the Premier said.

"SunCentral is expected to create more than 5,000 jobs by 2020 and a further 15,000 jobs by 2025."

"That's an estimated boost to the Queensland economy of more than $350 million by 2020 and $5.9 billion over the 20-year life of the project."

"Importantly, more than 40% of the 53-hectare site will be parklands and waterways."

Ms Palaszczuk said projects like SunCentral continue the momentum set in Queensland over the last year.

"We are very proud of the fact that 60,000 new jobs over the last 12 months and that unemployment is the lowest it has been in two years," Ms Palaszczuk said.

ABS figures released last week show that our building approvals are leading the nation. Building approvals in Queensland in 2015 were up 27% compared to 2014.

Latest construction value figures also show that development is booming on the Sunshine Coast. In the October to December 2015 quarter, the Sunshine Coast recorded its highest construction for a December quarter since 2011.

"Business confidence is also strong. The Sunshine Coast economy ranked second best-performing non-capital city region in Queensland for 2015/16 and the 5th highest nationally.

The SunCentral development it will feature Australia's first underground pneumatic waste system. Rubbish will be removed by the equivalent of a big underground vacuum cleaner.

Maybe people could get around by sealing themselves inside glass tubes pushed through the pneumatic system that will carry the rubbish.   :bg:

Channel 7 tonight showed the Premier's lips moving ... she said Light Rail would come, but timing would depend on population growth and numbers.
