I am all for that and if HSR ever comes into play they can revert the existing line  and use it as electrified freight and commuter mix

P.s Wander if it will be 25Kv AC or 1500v DC system. The newer Sydney trains are dual voltage apparently in a proposed mootted move to 25kv Ac!?

They might make modifications on the Canberra side? To the Airport or closer to Civic? Connect with a light rail station interchange. Things can be modified. Where there is a will there is a way :)
