Redland City Council has given preliminary approval to a controversial mega suburb - a 4000-home development touted as worth more than $2 billion.

Here we go again another Mega Suburb without the Public Transport Infrastructure.

What will be the best transport option here?

Rail?
Road and Gas Hybrid Buses?
Busway?
Light Rail to Logan and Cleveland?

Let's not get negative everyone!

I'm sure this rather sizable hosing development, will in truth, enjoy the same type of advanced public transit planning they all do! There'll be ONE "morning" and ONE "afternoon" bus service, that will be scraped after less than 12 months operation, because 1) The state govt and the bus operator will not reach a longer-term financing agreement and 2) the streets in the new development, will be so narrow, as not to allow reliable bus service operation in any case.

:bna: let's do the "Queeeeennnslaaannddd" dance......

:pfy: < there goes the plan to put the train through........  :bg:
SEQ, where our only "fast-track" is in becoming the rail embarrassment of Australia!   :frs:

I have reviewed the proposed land uses. There were no obvious issues with the development.

I would expect the development of 4000 would generate around 560 additional PT transport trips per day, based on a 7% mode share.

Calculation: 4000 x 0.07 x 2 trips/day = 560

The development is 'on the way' because a main road cuts through the middle of it. This means PT upgrades will be relatively easy to do with a bus from Cleveland Rail station, along Cleveland-Redland bay road and to Loganholme.

This is the Shoreline project

Do you think they will have the same visual simulations as Aura with rail/lightrail going through the centre of the suburb and a light rail icon under "Connecting People" Transport page?

^ I doubt it, they seem to be a much smaller firm. Also no rail or anything like that promised for the redlands.

They're locals, with a good record it seems. http://shorelineredlands.com.au/developers

QuoteThe Fox+Bell Group and Fiteni Homes are all longterm locals. Fox+Bell is responsible for one of Redlands best known and loved shopping centres - Victoria Point Lakeside. Fiteni Homes have been putting a roof over the heads of Redlands families for over 40 years.

Looking at it (as a local for the past 25 years), might need to reinstate the former route 283 on at minimum hourly frequency.  Bus priority along Cleveland-Redland Bay Road leading into Victoria Point wouldn't go astray either given that it can be a bit of a stop start carpark at certain times of the day (mainly peak hour and school times).  I'd probably push for route 280 to be upgraded to run every 30mins minimum 7 days a week, same with route 250 at every 15mins Monday to Friday and every 30mins Saturday and Sundays given that it gets solid patronage already.

I suspect that those living down there will either drive or bus it (if route 283 is reinstated) to either Victoria Point or Loganholme to get into the city.
