New Moreton Bay Rail Link train timetable

Queensland Rail uses best world's best practice, customer travel data and load modelling to design timetables that maximise the efficiency of the Citytrain network.

While Queensland Rail is still finalising the detailed train times, the Moreton Bay Rail Line (MBRL) timetable will deliver:

more than 650 train services a week
high frequency trains every 6-12 minutes in morning and afternoon peak periods, consistent with the current frequency at Petrie station
express services all day, every day, in both directions. Trains will run express between Northgate and Bowen Hills stopping only at Eagle Junction station
departures every 30 minutes in off-peak and on weekends
consistent 55 minute journey from Kippa-Ring to Brisbane Central stations.

The MBRL timetable will maximise the benefits for the greatest number of customers across the northern rail corridor and will allow Queensland Rail to service the Moreton Bay Region with its existing train fleet.

The timetable also provides a pathway for future timetable improvements once 75 New Generation Rollingstock trains are rolled out across the network from mid-2016.

Given the complexity of developing the timetable, there is limited scope for changes without significantly impacting on the MBRL timetable's overall design.

However, Queensland Rail welcomes feedback from the Moreton Bay community about the proposed train timetable and will use this feedback to inform future timetable changes.

Fantastic timetable really. Brilliant span of hours, just a pity it wasn't replicated on the opposite side of town! Hopefully next year...

Only bad thing is the stations Virginia to Lawnton are staying on 30min frequency, but hopefully that may change in the next couple years with Kippa Ring to Springfield being upped to 15min services (we can live in hope...).

Yes indeed.  Express pattern on the Ippy around the clock would be great too.

I have had a small amount of feedback re the 30 minute frequency Virginia to Lawnton, nothing else.

We just have to live with the 30 minute stuff for now.  I have raised the poor span out on the Ippy with Queensland Rail.

My tip would be Kippa-Ring to Springfield 15 min off-peak by mid-late 2017 together with 30 min all-day Ipswich express services.

Some of the local Sunshine Coast councillors plus Peter Wellington would want to ensure that Jackie Trad sticks to her promise of "hourly" Sunshine Coast services by the 'end of 2016' (Ref: Sunshine Coast Daily - 7th May 2015).  So I would assume the first couple of NGR units will likely be allocated to the Ipswich-Nambour hourly runs by then.

Hope so. I understand Guards will be located at the rear of NGR trains, so might have to be some other adjustments made as well.

Off topic a bit, but I seem to remember guards being at the rear on QR up to 90's ?

Does anyone recall/know what dates changes were made?

That's correct. Full operating models are in development. Unsure about the question re: guard placements up to the 90s though, before my time in QLD! Although I'm fairly sure they were at the back on the diesel and coaches/SX sets.
