I am starting to see a pattern in the videos, might post a list of 'points' later.

i.e. funky music +10

There is much ' effort ' that goes into making and presenting a ' good plan ' ...

Music selection is obviously more important than the gauge hey?    :o :bg: :pfy: :pfy:

This is just a beautiful collection of plans in this thread.  There are plenty more plans out there of course.  Rounding them up into a single thread takes time ..

^^Agree, not a good plan.  Poor music choice means this plan could be better.

Don't expect HSR support from National Party.  Some drongo senator will get up in the Parliament and say that the speeding trains will frighten sheep in the paddock and cause cows to abort their calves .... better to upgrade those wheat freight lines instead.

ozbob

They spent $118K on this effort ...  and the music is TERRIBLE!   :o :yikes:

"The Cancelled Melbourne Metro Project" 18-11-14

Published on 18 Nov 2014
Around $118,000 was spent on this fly-through animation that promotes the cancelled Melbourne Metro project. The video was obtained by Fairfax under Freedom of Information.

' Planning ' knows no boundaries hey?

It was doomed to fail!  :fp:  The Beerburrum-Nambour duplication plan doesn't have an animation.   :-\

These plans would be far more robust if they picked up on the popularity of food shows on TV.  They would be made sure-fire if the plan logo and slogan appeared on an apron.  Tea towels could depict the route.  And let's not forget the yobbo traveller.  He would appreciate a stubby holder with the name of the project.

Name such as CRR and BaT could have a new life as lines in crossword puzzles.  The clue could be 'failed transport infrastructure project.'

Uh oh, G:Link phase two has a fly-through video.  Will this be enough to kill it?

This song might be prophetic ... instead of big yellow trams it will be big yellow taxis !   :fp:

I just enjoy the planning phase now, that way I never get my hopes up too much.  I do enjoy a good plan.  I wish they would improve the music though ..  :o :P

Doesn't matter how they spin it, Abbott & co will approve rail funding only over their cold, dead bodies.

QLD has to go it alone on this one, time for the games to stop.

It will always be a  ' plan ' with that music!  Crikey   :fp:

Doh!  They forgot images of animated passengers getting on and off the tram.  Is that a pedestrian crossing between the Parkwood Park and Ride and the Parkwood Station?  Why not an overhead walkway?  It is easy to add to a plan if you have no intention of building it.

" ... The planned hovercraft would hold a capacity of up to 400 passengers and would ferry tourists to and from Brisbane and the islands of Moreton Bay ... "

Every New World City needs a ' world class ' hovercraft transport system hey?

Like the music Mr Stillwater?   They had better taste in the 1960s, seeing transport planning is locked in time back in the 1960s I think all ' future ' plans should have 1960s music hey?

That may auger well for future success paradoxically.  It seems the  majority of ' plans ' with fancy animations are just that, notwithstanding the crappy music.

Maybe there is still hope for the Beerburrum northwards track amplification plan?

PLEASE DON'T MAKE A SUNNY COAST LINE ANIMATION!!

Must be time for a good vid ...  HSR is always entertaining ..

Gawd, the music in this one is a shocker.  Never going to happen with this stuff, they really do need to improve the music.   Good music will help the plan no doubt ... :P

Wikipedia extract:

On 8 November 2013 the High Speed Rail Advisory Group, charged with part of the planning for a very fast train between Brisbane and Melbourne, was one of 20 government committees and councils identified to be wound up as part of the newly elected Abbott Government's initial efforts to cut costs and "ensure that the machinery of government is as efficient and as small as possible".

ozbob

A lot of ' plans '  and animations for HSR in Oz land around hey?  They might come in useful for the next inevitable change in Government policy that will no doubt announce the next grand HSR plan with another animation showing trains levitating between Adelaide and Goodna.   Can hardly wait ...
I hope by that time they have the backing music sorted.  After all, what good is an animated grand transport plan video with ratsh%t background music?  After all they are really only entertainment and divorced from the real world, so it does make sense to put on good music so that at least there is some real enjoyment from the aspirational morass of transport failure hey?

Is it the case that governments believe they are dealing with a generation hooked on electronic gaming devices, so providing an 'on-line travel experience' is sufficient -- not requiring actual construction of the real thing?  For an older generation, maybe the government could provide a ride at a Ekka -- a bit like the ghost train -- where people could sit and get the thrill and spills of riding in a HST.

I remember going to the Fox Studios, near the cricket ground in Sydney, where they had the 'Titanic Experience'.  Actually, it was two rides in one.  People were asked whether they wanted to 'drown or live' and about 70 per cent said they wanted to drown.  Cascading water, strobe lights and pitching of the floor ... it was all very exciting.  And the music was perfect!

A BaT Tunnel Ekka ride would cost a lot less than the real thing and give a realistic experience, even if you don't go anywhere.  And the taxpayer (showgoer) willingly pays!  Cost neutral.

From the Brisbane Times website, 8 August:

"Deputy Premier Jackie Trad has briefed the mayors of Queensland's largest councils on the way in which big infrastructure projects are funded overseas as the state government moves to tackle population growth....

"An extra 2.2 million people will settle in Southeast Queensland in the next 25 years.

"Mayors from Southeast Queensland councils will now prioritise projects as part of their planning for South East Queensland's new regional plan, which has to be finalised before Christmas.

"That regional plan will be supported by an infrastructure priority plan.

"A directions paper from local governments to prepare a draft new regional plan is being put together."

A new government and new plans:
-   A new Regional Plan
-   An infrastructure priority plan
-   A directions paper for local government

Ms Trad said the draft SEQ Regional Plan was likely to be released in early 2016, with the Queensland Infrastructure Plan to be released by February 2016.

^ Always good to know more plans are on the way.  Queensland cannot have enough plans hey?

I guess they can cut and paste from all the other plans ... there is a lot of them   :P

Queensland is in an ' infinite planning loop ' for many things,   they rarely get out of it to do,  hence evaluate  :frs:

I suppose they could always evaluate plans ..  :o
