Trains

As train services for the Dawn Service are expected to be very busy, we strongly encourage all passengers to plan ahead and catch the train as early as possible to avoid missing the service. We will be operating additional trains with extra capacity for the event, with trains arriving in the city from 3.20am.

Midland Line - departing Midland Station every 10-minutes from 3.00am
Armadale Line - departing Armadale Station every 15-minutes from 2.56am
Thornlie Line - departing Thornlie Station every 15-minutes from 3.20am
Fremantle Line - departing Fremantle Station every 10-minutes from 3.00am
Mandurah Line - departing Mandurah Station every 10-minutes from 2.36am. Shuttles from Cockburn Station will depart every 10-minutes from 3.52am
Joondalup Line - departing Butler Station at 2.42am, then every 10-minutes from 3.02am. Shuttles from Whitfords Station will depart every 10-minutes from 3.55am.

Presumably learning from "the giants" back in February, where a full-length train every 15 minutes wasn't clearing crowds nearly well enough.

And it's free travel day as well for everyone, not just for current and former service personnel as was usual in previous years. Again probably after the giants, where the ticket machines were totally inadequate to handle passenger numbers while SmartRider would often be more expensive (the family ticket is cash-fare only).

Comment on public transport inadequacy for Dawn Service.

Greetings,

Inadequate bus and rail services were made available for transporting patrons into the Dawn service in Brisbane.

Only one train service per line effectively in Brisbane.  Compare Brisbane to Perth.  Perth had trains running every 10 / 15 minutes.

Buses are simply not able to transport crush crowds effectively.  Rail should have been boosted with service frequency and more shuttle buses running to trains that do have the capacity.

Another excellent example of failure by TransLink and the Queensland Government, and the contempt shown to public transport in SEQ.

Best wishes
Robert
