go card retail network expansion

Catching public transport will soon be easier thanks to the installation of 24 go card machines in black spots across the retail network.

Transport and Main Roads Minister Scott Emerson said the go card machines would be installed over the coming weeks and will make it easier for passengers to purchase a new go card or put more money on an existing card.

"It is great to be able to expand our retail network to areas around Brisbane that do not currently have access to these services," Mr Emerson said.

"Providing passengers with a more convenient avenue to top up their go card is one part of our stronger plan for a brighter future to make public transport more accessible to all Queenslanders.

"The go card machines became available after new technology was installed into all 7-Eleven stores recently, meaning that go cards are now available at more than 600 locations across the network.

Other retail and/or top-up locations include selected independent retailers, QR station ticket offices and fare machines, at busway station fare machines, and on board buses (other than Brisbane Transport).

Passengers are also encouraged to register their go cards online for the convenience of auto top-up using their Visa or Mastercard credit and debit cards – ensuring they've always got travel credit on their card.

Registering cards also allows customers to protect any balance should the card be lost or stolen.
