Queenslander principle in action - bus stop Stuart St Goodna

A month or so ago I noticed that a new bus stop had been built in Stuart St Goodna (outside the Westside Christian School).  I was overcome with joy, not many good bus stops out this way, mainly shoddy verge stops. This new stop is about 25 metres from the present 524 route bus stop.

I have made some inquiries and have been informed that the school paid for the  bus stop, and it is not a TransLink stop - you could have fooled me.  It has TransLink all over it!

Well roads are public property.  The new site is branded for TransLink.   It is a good example of the Queenslander principle this.  Idiots!!

So the poor people who use the 524 have to brave the present dangerous verge stop, while the pretty indented bus stop is largely unused.

All together now .... Q U E E N S L A N D E R !

So, they are on the same side of the road only 25mtrs apart?  I would've thought TransLink would simply just remove the old stop.  Then again, I'm still waiting 4 months on for my local stop (inbound) to be fixed after a bus ran into it partially knocking it down and someone taking off with the timetable case!

Here's another.  Stop 302232 is at Tinbeerwah, between Cooroy and Noosa.  A passenger catching an eastbound bus from Tinbeerwah travels 32 minutes to get to Noosa Junction.  That same passenger takes between 1hr 40min. and 1hr 52min. to make the return journey.  Why?  Because the Tinbeerwah bus stop does not have a mate on the other side of the road.

To get from Noosa Junction to Tinbeerwah, our hapless passenger must catch a bus that goes past his/her suburb without stopping.  They must get out at Cooroy and wait for the next eastbound bus travelling back to the stop where they first got on.  Queenslander!

State government has caved in to common sense and has begun building a westbound bus stop on Cooroy-Noosa Road.

And the gifts from above continue.  My street 524 bus stops (Curnow St)   have some new wayfinding tiles!  Bit of a spruce up as well, with some hard standing.
