Derailment Nambucca Heads

On  Wednesday afternoon 3WB3 Pacific National service was involved in a derailment at Nambucca Heads. Several wagons on th rear of the train derailed causing several hundred metres worth of damage to track and bridges. Aroudn 2000 sleepers were damaged. The line was closed from 14.10 Wednesday and was not re opened until Friday Evening. Services effected by the derailment were all NSW Trainlink XPTs freighters were parked at various loops along the coast. Xpts were terminated at Kempsey and buses run between Kempsey Grafton Casino and Brisbane. First train through the damaged section was 3MB2 which was a combined 3MB2 and 3AB6 PN intermodal service.

they held up a little better than the timber ones, but i saw many that were only held together by the steel reinforcement rods and some of them had been snapped clean in half too.
