Ipswich, Rosewood and Springfield line trains are suspended in both directions between Roma Street and Corinda stations due to a bridge strike on Sylvan road, Toowong. Customers can expect delays of up to 30 minutes.

Bridge inspectors are en route.

Some inbound and outbound services will be rerouted by the Tennyson line.

Over the weekend I noticed the infamous underpass at Morayfield (behind the shopping centre) had strike damage - to the sign!!!

The tell tales hang down about 20-25 cm from the sign 

My vote is always for the beam installation - slice the top off the truck first. Surely long term that would be cheaper than dragging out the bridge inspectors.

Goodna has one of the most unattractive entrances to a suburb off the major road network.  Is there a bit of money in the QR and TMR budget for some public art, maybe even some trees in huge pots (so they can't be nicked) and a bit of lighting in the 'tunnel' powered by some solar panels.  It just requires a bit of imagination, a paint donation from the hardware store and an outdoor art class involving the kids from the local school overseen by an arty person.  PARTnership Program?

At approximately 5.30am this morning a boom gate was struck at the Blackwood Street level crossing in Mitchelton.

Our crews have carried out repairs and during this time trains were able to proceed through the area safely at a restricted speed.

This is a reminder for everyone to be vigilant around level crossings, especially as we enter the silly season. #qr

A sad outcome  7 News -->  Truck driver jailed for tragic mistake

A grandfather's fatal mistake not to measure the height of his truck has landed him behind bars for eight months.

It is to the credit of the former Minister for Transport Mr Emerson  that he did move to ensure protective beams were placed on the approaches to this rail over road bridge Annerley Road Dutton Park.

Bridge strikes are still happening regularly on our transport network.  Continuing placement of protective beams and upgraded warning systems are needed.

It is also time in our opinion that a zero tolerance approach is taken to not only bridge strikes but fools driving into boom gates and disregarding basic road rules.

First offence for a bridge strike or level crossing breach should be an automatic 12 month suspension, plus full financial costs for the mayhem caused.  Second offence life suspension plus full costs.

These are very serious offences with potentially grave outcomes. Time the gloves came off.

Yes, the bridge is stronger than a brick-sh%thouse ...  buses (single deck) fit under it OK.  Have taken a lot of pics there.

The idiots driving trucks need sorting.  It is only a matter of time before another serious disaster.
