SEQ: Next station Springfield Central!

RAIL Back On Track (http://backontrack.org) a web based community support group for rail and public transport and an advocate for public transport passengers has welcomed the announcement of the commencement of  train services on the Springfield railway line from the 2nd December 2013 (1).

Robert Dow, Spokesman for RAIL Back On Track said:

"A new extension to  the SEQ rail network commences operation from December 2nd! Rail services will commence between Richlands, Springfield and Springfield Central."

"This is very welcome news for south-east Queensland and Springfield area residents of course."

"We have noted the worsening road traffic congestion on the road network west of Brisbane.  This will give citizens a real alternative to the daily road chaos!"

"The Trackstar alliance are to be congratulated on this project.  It is first rate, we have had a number of tours during construction."

"The previous State Governments should also be congratulated for their vision. The present State Government has also supported this project and have expanded the park and ride capacity at Springfield Central."

"To coincide with the commencement of rail services to Springfield Central, the Western Region bus network will also be changing (2)."

"The major disappointment however is that the planned bicycle path was not completed.  Hopefully this can be done as planned in the next few years (3)."

"All aboard for Springfield Central!"
