Brisbane: Bus changes commence 22nd July 2013

RAIL Back On Track (http://backontrack.org) a web based community support group for rail and public transport and an advocate for public transport passengers has said the bus changes commencing in Brisbane from tomorrow are a very poor response by Brisbane City Council (1).

Robert Dow, Spokesman for RAIL Back On Track said:

"The bus review failure in Brisbane has put back public transport years."

"The changes occurring to a number of bus routes tomorrow are just basically cuts without the commensurate network gains.  Patronage will continue to slide and even more pressure will be put on the failing fares for TransLink."

"The correct thing to to do is to give network control for Brisbane Transport to the proper transport authority and then a logical, connected, frequent, cost sustainable public transport network can be put in place."

"It is a sad day for public transport in Queensland."
