Now the Rudd factor has come into play it will be interesting to see what offers are made and which way Newman and his glove puppet Emerson jump.

Emerson has already had a crack at Rudd in the press.

They are hopeless.

It would help to lay off the politics, as even federal Libs and (of course, now) Labor will want to be seen to be fighting the election on policy, policy, policy.  They need to do so to distinguish themselves from the old days (not so old, lol) of toe-to-toe Julia and Tony.  Rudd has already made noises about CRR, thereby snookering Abbott who, as we know, believes urban rail is a matter for the states alone.  There's Rudd, from Queensland and ready to help and Abbott looking a bit flat-footed with his Gateway Motorway upgrade promise.  CRR is far sexier and affects a lot more marginal seats.  The big issue is whether Scott Emerson will look the gift horse in the mouth.  He will.
