Might affect the accessibility of the corridor for a drive by but I wouldn't think much else.  May see if the following week is doable instead.

Worth looking into, I hate the delays induced by that motor racing, would diminish the tour.

SurfRail

GoldlinQ are unable to do Friday 1 November but have suggested Friday 8 November.

Any takers?

Ok by me. Most if not all the BTMS members who were coming are probably still interested, they've all been out buying safety gear.  :tr

ozbob

SR could you please confirm with GoldlinQ what will be required in terms of dress etc.

Thanks.

It will definitely be the full suite of PPE listed previously - they will need it to be worn and do not have any to supply.

The requirements that I can find are:

- Very limited PPE availability - so we WILL each need to bring a hard hat, safety glasses, hi-viz vest and steel-cap boots.

I appreciate this is short notice and that the PPE in particular will create difficulties for some of us.   Just having a squizz, total cost of these items is probably around the $100 mark depending on how cheap you can get the boots.  I picked up a decent set for $65 from Big W, I suspect you can find them for cheaper though.  You could get the balance items from RSEA for around $45, again likely you can get them cheaper elsewhere or online, at a disposals store etc.

SurfRail

^ That's the one.  Long-sleeved shirt and trousers as well.

Another date change - this time due to me, being a big-city lawyer with an annoyingly full diary for this time of year.

I have set aside either 6 December 2013 or 13 December 2013 - both Fridays, and both are good for GoldlinQ.

Please let me know your preference so I can organise my leave and lock it in with GoldlinQ.
Ride the G:

ozbob

I can make either but favour 6th thanks.

Will do my farewell 535 tour on the 5th ...

I won't be able to come either day, unfortunately. :(

ozbob

Sorry to hear that.  December is a busy time for many.

I wonder if any point in going for middle late January 2014?  Just a thought ...

I'll have to check my availability for either of those dates when I get home tomorrow morning. Currently enjoying the city that Brisbane could have been, ie: Perth.
All opinions stated are my own and do not reflect those held by my employer.

Second thoughts, I can make it on the 13th if I juggle things around a bit. :)

I've been told that a visitor to the site who was there with a work group was refused entry as visitors have to wear gloves as well. Does this apply to us ?

I've been told gloves will be required but will be supplied - I will clarify.

I am inclined to think this might be a January event now, the timings simply won't work for me at present.

I am interested in participating along with those coming from BTMS, and as with Huddo, 13th December or January would be better.

SurfRail

OK all,

After a number of failed starts, I have gone back to GoldlinQ and indicated 17 January 2014 will be our go date.  (10 January 2014 is also available if there is mass unavailability on the 17th).

Same PPE requirements will apply - hard hat, safety glasses, hi-viz vest, steel-cap footwear, long-sleeve shirt and trousers.

Could everybody please PM your confirmation of attendance to me - Huddo, could you also confirm who will be attending from TDU / BTMS.

Thanks SurfRail for organising this.  17th is fine by me ...

Yes thanks, I would like to come along on the 17th, and have the necessary PPE. Please advise travel arrangements.

SurfRail

Hi folks,

As always we are at the mercy of scheduling conflicts - KDR staff are unfortunately now going to be tied down all of Friday 17 January and so that date will not be achievable.

I will come back to you all as soon as we get a replacement date organised, but the same basic arrangements (including it being on a Friday) are still being pursued.

Friday 24 January 2014 is now apparently going to be available.  I have asked for this to be locked in now just in case the window closes again.

Who's in?

Ok for me at present, is the 24th confirmed? If so, will advise BMS/TDU members and let you know who's still available. :tr

SurfRail

OK, date is now locked.

Timings as follows:

- Make own way to GCUH by 10:00am.  There is a Route 710 service departing Helensvale stop "B" at 9:14am which will get you to the GCUH bus platform at 9:36am.  I will likely make my way up to Helensvale to catch this one.

- 10:00-10:15 - meet up and sign in at GCUH site office

- 10:15-10:45 - tour of GCUH station

- 10:45-11:00 - travel to depot

- 11:00-12:00 - tour of depot

- 12:00 approx - tour finishes

This is rough and still to be fully confirmed.  I will circulate an SMS with these rough details and confirm when finally sorted.

A further reminder about PPE - you will need to wear longsleeves, trousers and steel-cap boots, and will need to bring a safety hat, safety glasses and hi-viz vest.  Gloves will be provided.

Touch back on with primary go card.  Next service to Roma St.  Touch off.  Two paid journeys now completed on primary go card.

Wait an hour before touching back on, time for a pleasant breakfast.

Couple of questions, SR, is lunch being provided like last time? They really gave us the VIP treatment then. Is travel to depot still on foot, or is transport provided? One of the BTMS members will be recovering from an operation and won't be able to walk very far, so he may have to cancel.

The above timings are now locked and final.

In answer to huddo's questions:
- No refreshments planned, so bring along water and something to snack on if you need a bite before we finish up.
- There will be a minibus to shuttle us around and for a quick drive of the corridor.

You will be able to stay on the minibus afterwards and it will take you back to the nearest station (likely Nerang) for the trip back to Brisbane or elsewhere.

Some of us may be getting something to eat along the coastal strip afterwards, and there is of course plenty to see up close and personal along the route after the tour is done if you would prefer to hop off somewhere and make your own way back later in the day.

I expect I will now be meeting you all at GCUH and may be slightly delayed to 10:10 to 10:15.  I have a meeting at GCCC in advance and will need to get from the Nerang chambers to GCUH in 30 minutes.  The journey planner recommends a connection which I am not game to try in the first week of the new timetable...
