Set in train

This is all off in the never never and so it is only a set of talking points.  I've already quite happily agreed that money needs to be spent on fixing the Coomera to Helensvale section, extending LRT and improving the bus system before worrying about infill stations or any heavy rail extension.

These are sensible suggestions. I agree. Yes, for daily commuters in the train with you, I can certainly understand that overcrowding is a major problem. Very few would be keen to stand and hold on for 70 mins, ten times a week.

Petey, great points you raised early this morning. This is most interesting,
QuoteThere currently is no delays at Coomera or Helensvale outside of peak when all is running well.

That's with 30 min frequency in each direction. Hypothetically, if a doubling of services were the only addition to the line (15 min frequency), would this still be the case?

It could be worked around so there are no long dwells, but it would be a very fragile timetable with any delays resulting in trains waiting at either end of the single track sections.
On my trip to the Gold Coast this afternoon, there has been a reasonable amount of local traffic with Helensvale in particular having over 20 people waiting for the coast bound train. I forgot to check Beenleigh but there are always a fair number of people waiting to head south.
Will post an update with local travel numbers on the northbound leg later on.
