Old Northern Road

Hours of operation on this route will be reduced during the week and over weekends due to low demand

How can they reduce the hours of operation for routes which already stop running at 6pm? For people finishing work in the CBD at 5pm it's already nearly impossible to make it to Petrie before the last bus leaves. If they cut the services back to 5pm or 4pm then they obviously will have no chance.

I didn't think it was possible but they've actually made the bus network in Moreton Bay even worse.

I think this is very much a case of TransLink failing to provide adequate rail feeders to commuters, and failure justifying failure (i.e. people aren't using the feeders because they are inadequate, so we should cut them even more). Similar thing can be seen on the Gold Coast, and is once again why before taking the bus review to users, there needed to be a span of hours (along with frequencies) for every route.

The issue is so easily solved too. Remove some daytime services and replace them with AM/PM peak services. Not that difficult, and a 6:30pm service will generate far more pax than a 1:30pm service. I would rate the importance of peak feeder services as being far more important than daytime services, especially between 12:00pm and 3:00pm (grandma has done her shopping and schools are not out, so the only demands which exist are school kids on holidays and granny going to mahjong, the latter of which is only an issue for 12 weeks of the year).
Is it really that hard to run frequent, reliable public transport?

That's weird, I swear it was working last week.

Also, annoyed at the broad details on frequency and span of service, it doesn't tell you really anything if you think about it.  If you have the first and last service info available, you might as well just release the timetables.  QR and TL haven't had a problem releasing the train timetables well ahead of time (+3 months), but for some reason, TL want to hold off on releasing the bus timetables until about a month beforehand, if not just before the start date.

You know most of these changes really aren't that bad.

Lack of weekend services is the real killer, but span of hours is reasonable for what it is.

No routes ending at 3pm anyway.  Interestingly that is where the Thompsons network was around 5 years ago.

Old Northern Road

Those hours of operation are very misleading. The time they are using is the time the last service reaches its terminus. For example they claim that the hours of operation for the 680 are 5.05am-10.28pm when in reality the last northbound service departs at 9.15pm and the last southbound service departs at 7.26pm.

The 690 (the only bus route in Moreton Bay which has longer operating hours than the 680) has had its night time services cut back. The hourly frequency will now end at 8.29pm (they currently end at 10.02pm).

The 669 stops running at 3.46pm although it currently stops running at 1.30pm so I guess that is a bit of an improvement.

Just so you know my partner didn't appreciate you reposting her tweet on this forum without her permission. You also don't show her explanation on why she feels the way she feels. The reduction of quality of service and the above CPI increases then she has every reason to not be impressed with the waste of money.

Plenty of signage at the station and bus stop regarding changes to the network. No need to give a guide to every house in the suburb. The likely hood of those who don't use public transport to start using public transport is very low if non existent.

Past experience and feedback through past campaigns has shown that signage alone is not entirely effective on its own. You're damned if you do, you're damned if you don't.

Fact is, the cost to print a few booklets is a drop in the ocean compared to infrastructure or contract spend.
