Maintenance records reviewed

Transport and Main Roads will review all maintenance records from Park Ridge Transit's fleet of B12 buses following an incident this morning.

Transport and Main Roads Minister Scott Emerson said Park Ridge Transit (PRT), which operates buses in the Logan area, had one of their Volvo B12 buses catch fire this morning.

"While I am unaware of any systemic issues with this model of bus, we need to ensure PRT delivers a safe service as part of its contract with the State Government," Mr Emerson said.

"As a precaution I have asked my department to review the maintenance vehicle inspection records for the nine Volvo B12 buses in the PRT fleet.

"Since the incident this morning PRT advised its B12 bus fleet was taken back to the depot while a full inspection was undertaken.

"Passengers should expect services to run as normal tomorrow."

I'd be very worried if I was running Logan City Bus Service.  5 in 6 of their buses are this model or a related derivative.
