At present the running time for the Beerburrum to Glasshouse section is ten minutes, it has 5 sections of 60kph, three sections of 80kph and one section of 100kph effectively limiting the section to 60kph for freighters.
The elimination of the 60kph curves alone would reduce the running time for freight services by 3 minutes for an electric the proposed realignment would allow the removal of all the 60 and 80 kph boards and raise the section to mostly 120 kph with one 100 kph curve reducing the running time by better than 5 minutes.
This section can be realigned progerssively with the initial works commencing from Beerburrum and removing two 60 kph boards and one 80 kph, effectively shortening the single track section by almost 2 kilometres.
At the Nambour end the greatest gain would be the Eudlo to Palmwoods section this section has numerous 60 kph curves and is sharply graded, by realigning and duplicating this section to the proposed new alignment it would cut some 6 minutes off the running time for freighters and about same for electric services which combined with the time savings from the Beerburrum - Glasshouse realignment would cut 10 minutes from the running times for Nambour services but more significently would enable both crossing and passing moves to take place on the move effectively providing the capacity for additional train paths between Caboolture and Nambour and lessen the need to operate railbus services.

8 minutes for passenger Beerburrum to Glasshouse.

Seems to be the capacity restricting section, so I guess it has merit.
