Anyone have any ideas how this could be improved, I understand due to the size of Samford and surrounding areas not everywhere can be covered, but some of that bus route is doubled =(. I've never catched it (I'm not trecking though parkland at 6pm) so I don't know where most people get on or off so some of my ideas might be a bit stupid.

Current Route:

My Ideas so far:
1. Mostly the same but via Wights Mt (and yes, it covers where I live :p), This is mostly the FG high to Highvale route. This would cause a chunk of Mt glorious road to be missed

2. Via the dump then onto Mt Glorious, Covers most of the same route as is (but with extra) (black route, me and google maps had some disagreements)

3. Via the dump again but head back via Wights Mt, Misses out almost all of Mt Glorious Road

The issues I see no matter what if you try to touch the routes, you either need to play with Mt Glorious Road or Showground Drive and if you do either of those, the locals might grab their pitch forks and revolt (no idea why, but there seems to be some local love for those roads).

All these are designed to end/start back at the train station, but there was no need showing all that so most are indicated at the school road.

I've had a think and a lot of those options are good. If you were going to stick with 1 route, I would probably go with one of the via the dump routes as Greggs road (from memory) is a bit more developed than over Wights Mtn way.

That said, there is a possibility of having a 2nd route that runs across Eatons Crossing to Albany Creek/that general area. Not sure what the patronage would be like on such a route, but I think it would be used. If that was the case then the 2nd route could take the Wights Mtn area and head off to Eatons Crossing via Main St, and the FG station route could be timed to meet so any passengers wishing to switch to the other bus could do so. Though would be hard to time such a thing if it is to remain a hail n' ride route.
There is no silver bullet... but there is silver buckshot.
Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

There is housing most the way along wights mt road now, although its not densely packed (no idea what mt glorious rd is like to compare since i hardly go that way), but at the end of westbourne dr a huge housing estate is going in where the diary farm was and that does link back onto mt glorious road (or what ever its called up that way towards the show grounds) so it will be interesting to see the numbers around there once its done.

As for sticking to one right, I don't think samford will be really that big for awhile in regards to getting the goverment to fork out the cash, unless you did some sort to dayboro to ferny grove but a lot of that is long open road.

There's really no particularly good way to do this one. The mega development at the end of Westbourne is happening and best serviced from Mt Glorious Rd.
There's been a bit of subdivision along Wights Mtn Rd (~7 houses fronting the road itself added over past decade judging from Google Maps, ~15 more on the side streets), but it's still far less dense than the Showgrounds area, and probably about about half the density of Mt Glorious Rd

Gibbons Rd has the Greggs Rd section at the right density, then the tip, then more, then the new Sovereign developments and sports fields. Apart from the tip, that's probably the best of the alternate options.

Send it to Mt Glorious. Test them brakes out on the way back down :P

It has happened, And while yes, I designed these while that development was just being flattened (and had no roads yet) one of the goals was service the development instead of days road then hook straight onto westbourne drive, and with a goal remove the section where there was service duplication (as it went in both directions) and increase serviced areas.

Since I've never caught the service (due to not wanting to wade though some park lands), I'm not quiet sure where most patrons are catching from, but betting mt glorious road (If anyone reads this thread, and actually catches the service, please chime in!).

One idea I just had looking back on the maps (without mapping to see how it works, and the duplication), is to go from the village -> wights mt rd -> westbourne drive -> Up onto mt glorious road -> Show grounds -> then back along the mt glorious to samford

Map of the crazed ramblings I just made: (shows the start point as the school, for space saving)

- Start wights mount area (Pink)
- head up to section of pre-exisiting route (teal)
- head to pel road and turn on (red)
- Choose somewhere to turn around (my suggestion is Greenwood cres) (Yellow)
- Back onto pel and into the village.

I wonder if BBL got the funding from Translink if they would consider a trail of the Wights Mt area (Could use their minibus and see numbers wise)
