Just stumbled on this - Herston has it's own rocket! Someone else has personalised home taxi services!

What is the purpose of these two routes - 363 and 364?

The 364 seems to just be a short running of routes 360 and 361 to service the Herston area after dark without having to add on extra 360s or 361s in areas of low demand.  Also handy to catch it after dark at QUT to get access to the Valley, which I've done myself on several occasions.

I'm not sure about the 363 but I'm assuming it's just to add extra capacity in Herston without having to resort having to add extra 360s and 361s in the peak hour, while also diverting around the traffic in the inner city area (City and Valley) for Herston residents.  I've seen it a few times while waiting for a bus at QUT Kelvin Grove and it generally has about 3/4 loads.

Herston has a very high level of professional (ie: executives, and other office manager type people) and students living there.  And even though the housing is fairly spread out, I know with the student residences you can have quite a lot of people living in them.

Living in the Urban Village I see the 364 limo pass regularly at night with one or two passengers (QUT) bound. I don't see it Valley bound.

I refer to it as the "booze bus" as to me it's a relic from prior to the bus way used to ferry uni students to the valley for a night of drinking  :he

I believe it is being cut as it is rather pointless.

The area is still pretty sub-standard in terms of PT. Due to it's topography and the infrequent nature of 360/361/363/364, I wouldn't really put it in the category of personal taxi service. Having said that it could use some steam ironing as part of a broader review:

1) Terminate 360/361 at Harry St, Ashgrove or Enoggera Interchange
2) Remove 363
3) Re-route 364 via the 363 route between Herston Rd - RBWH and continue the current 364 route through the Valley
4) Increase frequency of 364 to compensate for removal or change of routes that currently operate between RBWH - Valley, identified in a broader review (335, 370/5/9 etc.)

Even if loadings for the Herston area aren't fantastic, I think this route could easily sustain a 15min frequency (10min in peak) just catering to those who are travelling Valley - RBWH or Valley - CBD.

Given its location and that (some) parts of Herston do have access to very good PT, I feel this could be the final piece in the puzzle for that little area.

363, I agree is totally useless and should be cut. It is just another rocket variation on the 364. 364, I support its existence. Something has to do that ugly coverage function in Herston, and it should not be the 360 or 361 (the 361 being the northside's equivalent of the 172 or 232). That little section of the 364 is a route ruiner. Once you send a bus through there, the route isn't going to attract much patronage regardless of where it goes just because it is an annoying diversion.

360/361 are the things which should be cut. The 361 is plain awful (in fact, it shall be the subject of a personal visit when I next decide to go on urban bus safari out that way), and the 360 is pretty close to it. Neither route should exist - replace them with 364s in Herston and feeders elsewhere if the bus is absolutely necessary.

But Lapdog, just because it goes direct from the CBD to Herston, does not mean it is automatically Paris' new lovechild. By that mentality, I could make my own story about how I, James (not my actual name) of St Lucia, enjoy an EXPRESS BUS from my humble abode to both the University of Queensland and Indooroopilly Shopping Centre, the 427. Don't cut my bus!!  :co3
Is it really that hard to run frequent, reliable public transport?
