Question about Prepaid routes?

Quick question, but on Prepaid routes, does this mean the driver doesn't have to get given a cash box/float at all because they don't need to sell tickets?
Eg I've never looked, but CityGlider doesn't have a cash box/float? If so, I'm suprised they haven't pushed this more widely, since it means better security for drivers.

I'd like to see the 111, 66 and 29 go prepaid immediatley at the very least since all stops have ticket machines (Well, Dutton Park Place doesn't, but who cares?)

Probably the box is still there, just no cash in it...

I can tell you in Sydney that the Metrobus routes which operate out of Tempe have no float, even no pay in facility at the depot!

They should be getting rid of paper anyway, but I think they need to sell go cards on the buses.  The routes you list: perhaps not.

It would depend on the drivers shift I'd imagine. I'd like to see all busway stops/interchange hubs prepaid for starters regardless if the bus is a pre paid route or just a normal all stopper.

Although last I was at Indooroopilly interchange there was no ticket machine, so that would need to be sorted.

Where available of course. It would be fairly simple to roll out a few new ticket machines here and there. Places like Chermside, Toombul, Kippa Ring etc might be a bit difficult due to the actual interchange and then associated stops across or on a side road (77/325 on Hamilton Road, 330/335/340 on Gympie Road, 310/315 on Sandgate Road) but you can get around that by applying it to the actual interchange complex only. Alot of existing places could easily become prepaid. Petrie, Narangba, Burpengary, Caboolture, Nambour, Beenleigh, Helensvale, Nerang... basicially all the major rail/bus interchanges that share infrastructure could easily be rolled out as a prepaid interchange due to the nearby railway station/sharing facilities. North Lakes.... its not what I'd call a large interchange (still a interchange none the less) tends to still have a large amount of ticket buyers and top up users getting on buses. Its doable to make it prepaid but I'd rather not given that there aren't any machines at all there for locals to be fimilar with.

At BT at least the float is given to you when you start as part of your equipment.  You're supposed to take your cash tin.  I leave my cash tray in my cash tin when I'm doing Pre Paid services - a useful thing we learned early on when the P137 was introduced.  It's so you don't look like an ass when you tell them you can't sell them a ticket lol.  Also helps me to remember it is a prepaid service.
