The project includes an approximately 7km branch line with balloon loop. The junction will be just east of Jondaryan on the main Western Line, with points facing toward Brisbane.  This represents a return of rail to the Acland area, as Acland was formerly served by the Oakey to Cooyar branch line. Acland to Cooyar closed in 1964, with Oakey to Acland hanging on as far as Acland coal mine. With full dieselisation of QR, the mine no longer served any purpose and the remainder of the branch closed in 1969.  A small section of the branch remains open at Oakey as a local industrial siding.

See the attached map below for the route of the new Jondaryan to Acland branch line.
