When I arrived at Roma St this afternoon SMU 209 had failed and was located in platform 7.

I then noticed a train of diesel-electric locomotives approaching the failed SMU in preparation to tow it clear and back to Mayne or perhaps Redbank.  The locomotives must have been diverted from a routine movement between Mayne and Redbank presumably.

DEL were 2211D, 1725, 1730, 2337, 2485H.  Most unusual and interesting occurrence.

I watched as an automatic coupler adapter was fitted to the SMU.  Shortly after that I boarded a late running 4.09pm (4.16pm) Redbank service (new IMU) to Indooroopilly to have a look at the new platforms.
