LORETO College has penned a petition calling for the reinstatement of a bus route from Loganholme to Coorparoo.

The Mount Gravatt Coach and Travel's route 7 was scrapped at the beginning of this year, stranding up to 50 families from schools including Loreto, Villanova and Seton colleges.

The service had previously been run by Busabout for a decade but was taken up by Mount Gravatt Coach and Travel in 2011 on the proviso that TransLink would help subsidise the service.

TransLink failed to provide funding, and the company cancelled the service.

Loreto College P&F Association said the closure of the bus service had forced families from Brisbane's southern suburbs to find alternative transport means.

"The withdrawal of this bus service has been particularly difficult for students with special needs as bus route 7 ensured students needed only to catch the one bus, whereas now up to three buses are required to reach their school,'' P&F Association representative Elizabeth Fort said.

"If the government would subsidise the service as a Translink route it could be reinstated.''

The e-petition has been posted on the Queensland Parliament's website.

Isn't there a BUZ on that section of Cavendish road?

180 turns off Cavendish Rd at Holland Rd, leaving the 184 & 185.
