Proposal calls for extra buses to Samford

SAMFORD commuters could benefit from additional bus services if a submission to Translink from State Member for Ferny Grove Dale Shuttleworth is favoured. Mr Shuttleworth's proposal to TransLink in August highlighted solutions for poorly serviced areas of the northwest.

He asked for an additional feeder bus service in the morning and a delayed afternoon service from Samford to Ferny Grove train station. to Ferny Grove train station. "In the short term I have asked for improved connectivity with rail networks," Mr Shuttleworth said.

He said TransLink had refused to provide additional services at Bunya but he suggested they approach Brisbane Bus Lines to give commuters access to school services during weekdays.

Mr Shuttleworth said although he had not called for additional services at Upper Kedron, he would like to per Kedron, he would like to see existing routes expanded to cater for residents living in estates.

Rail Back on Track spokesman Robert Dow said more feeder bus services would provide a sustainable solution to lack of parking at northwest train stations.

Mr Shuttleworth did not expect a decision to be made until Translink's SEQ Bus Network review was finalised early next year.

Samford needs better than that. I can understand the low population being an issue but something at least hourly during the day should be provided. If they seriously don't change anything with the feeder bus services when the new bus stop opens, I'll be dissapointed.
