Big weekend for Perth Station - Signficant Layout Changes wef 20 Aug 2012

Has been a big weekend for Perth, Perth Station Closure and now a number of changes.

Perth Station Platform and Access Changes (from Monday 20 August 2012)

From Friday 17 August until first service Monday 20 August 2012, Perth Station will be closed. This closure will have a significant impact on the Fremantle, Midland, Armadale, and Thornlie lines.

There will also be disruption to the Joondalup and Mandurah lines, however this will be limited to Sunday evening and the Mandurah Line shuttles to the football. Please click on relevant the tabs below for more information on how your services will be affected.

This disruption will have a significant impact on travel to and from the Fremantle v Richmond football match on Saturday 18 August. Please click the AFL tab below for alternative travel options to the game. This will affect travel on all train lines.

When Perth Station reopens on Monday 20 August 2012 there will be significant layout changes. These changes will affect the Fremantle, Midland, and Armadale lines. There will also be new timetables for these lines. The layout changes will not affect the Joondalup Mandurah or Thornlie lines.

From Sunday 19 August there will be time changes to a number of Transperth bus services. These changes will coincide with the changes to the train timetable. Please click on the tab below for more information on how your services will be affected.

Perth Station Platform Changes - Effective Monday 20 August 2012

As a result of ongoing works at Perth Station for the Perth City Link project, from Monday 20 August 2012 the Fremantle, Midland and Armadale lines will experience platform changes at Perth Station. These changes are expected to be in place for over a year.

Changes will occur as follows:
Fremantle Line

    The Fremantle Line will now depart from Platform 5 and will have an updated timetable.
    Services on the Fremantle Line will no longer continue through to the Midland Line. Passengers wishing to continue their journey on the Midland Line will need to catch a train on Platform 7.
    Services on the Fremantle Line will now connect and travel through to the Armadale Line.

Midland Line

    Midland Line services will now depart from Platform 7and will have an updated timetable.
    Services on the Midland Line will no longer continue through to the Fremantle Line. Passengers wishing to continue their journey on the Fremantle Line will need to catch a train on Platform 5.

Armadale Line

    Armadale Line will services will now depart from Platform 6 and will have an updated timetable.
    Services on the Armadale Line will connect and travel through to the Fremantle Line.

Roe St Access Change
Due to the ongoing works occurring at Perth Station, access will no longer be available from the Roe St entrance on Platform 9 near the Horseshoe Bridge. Those passengers wishing to access Perth Station from Roe St should enter via Barrack St or Wellington St. Click here to view an updated Perth Station access map.

Why?  Is there significantly more through travel Fremantle-Armadale than Fremantle-Midland?

It's for operational reasons because of the upgrade works.  The Freo-Midland throughrouting will be reinstated once everything is finished.
