Great photo's, thank you Robert

I'd hazard a guess and say they appear to be from perhaps the circa 1940's (by clothing style and vehicles)
Only a wild guess

No worries. Interesting pics I agree.  I have asked the Ipswich Workshops Museum to have a look and they might know a little more hopefully.

Might be a little earlier possibly 1930s?  Any horseless carriage enthusiasts who can date the trucks?

:lo

Will send that picture to my father - he's a child of the 50's but into old machinery and cars.

What is the location for the last picture?

red dragin

At first look he think's late 1920's/early 1930's.

Given him something to do for the rest of the day, will probably have exact years and model numbers by the end of today.  ;D

ozbob

Thanks.  Don't know exact location other than on SCL.  Could be Palmwoods. We are researching that possibility ..

I don't think it is Palmwoods.  The engine shed is in the wrong place and the Buderim Tramway railway is missing.  It went behind the station.

But Landsborough had a different style of station.  So probably not ..

It is the thought of 7 car trains with no seats ...  the inner city rail solution ... :bg:

Meanwhile any date confirmation of the horseless carriages?   I reckon it is probably late 1920s or so ..

Nothing yet - must be something on TV.

He said he will ask around at the next meeting of the QDRA (Qld drag racing assoc) as well. Plenty of old mechanics there into old cars.

ozbob

I reckon the horseless carriages are c. 1928 Chevrolet trucks ..

So that puts a good date on it c. 1930

Beerwah had a saw mill as well.  Bit of sawed timber in a Chev as well.

No doubt in my mind that the train loading is at Beerwah.

Looks similar to this picture of Caboolture (same white building and gates on right) but the trees and left side of the picture are different. No date known for that picture either.

Edit:
QR have a better copy of the same picture at the bottom of their page. Dates between 1909 & 1912.

The QGR station buildings were all very similar.  The pineapple boxes are a big clue, and if you imagine the yard at Beerwah as it was until recently with the pineapple boxes etc. it is a very good fit.

I've been through Beerwah as a kid about 24 years ago behind a steam loco and last year. Never really saw the yard.

Few of the QDRA guys figured around 1930. The trucks back then where frames with engines. The body was built locally by a coach builder. Only way to tell from the outside would be the radiator shapes.

Beerwah was also suggested as a locale for the picture.

Thanks for following up red dragin.  Good job, please thank your contacts.

Marvellous!   :bg: 8) :-t
