TransLink is celebrating the sale of the three-millionth go card.

TransLink chief executive Neil Scales said go card accounted for more than 80% of travel on the south-east Queensland public transport network each day.

"The recent sale of the three-millionth go card is the latest in a series of milestones that indicate the maturing of our smart card system," Mr Scales said.

"This outstanding growth in go card use has helped us to grow and improve the south-east Queensland network."

Thanks a million!

3 million go cards have now been sold in South East Queensland.

We would like to thank all of our valued go card customers in helping achieve this significant milestone.

This outstanding growth in go card use has helped us to grow and improve the network for public transport users.

Did you know go card now accounts for more than 80 per cent of trips in South East Queensland?

Travelling with go card has never been easier or cheaper. Make sure you get on board with go card and enjoy the travel savings and discounts on offer.

I wonder if the ' 3 million sold ' includes the go cards given away at various times ...

And what happens with returned cards? Do they take those off the 3 million sold count?
There is no silver bullet... but there is silver buckshot.
Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

I'm betting the number of active cards is circulation is far less than that.

If you take out failed cards, people who left Brisbane, people who lost a card, people who gave up on PT, children's cards that were never registered and expired, tourists who bought a card, etc., then the actual number of cards in use is likely to be much lower.

I'd hazard a guess and say "no, they don't"
"Once sold, always sold."

Also agree with your assessment colinw, given the take up rate is still at just over 80%, and has been at that rate for some time now.

Now is the hour to start selling go cards on buses.  There is no reason to delay.
