Following the interesting trip into town today (see --> http://backontrack.org/mbs/index.php?topic=1320.0 ) as luck would have it there was track obstruction on the up suburban line between Sherwood and Corinda this afternoon/evening.

I boarded the 4.09pm Redbank service from Central (IMU 103).  On arrival at Roma St the guard announced that there would be a lot of passengers boarding as the previous service had been terminated at Roma St and please make room.  That we did.

We then travelled normally to Sherwood where the guard announced that due to a track obstruction the train would reverse back to Graceville and change lines.  This we did.

Arrived at Sherwood 4.31pm (plat 1).

Set back to Graceville at 4.34pm, crossed just down from Sherwood to main up. Ran down on the main up to Graceville arrived 4.37pm (plat 3).

Departed Graceville at 4.38pm main up, Sherwood 4.40 pm, Corinda 4.42 pm, Oxley 4.44pm.  Left the train.

I have all the luck ...  ;D

As luck would have it, I left work at 3.00pm today to catch the 3.05 from Central to Milton, then off to Umart to pick up some computer bits and pieces, 3.05 turned into 3.10 then around 3.07 announcements over the speakers that train would be express from Roma street to Corinda via south brisbane (with people wanting to get to stations Milton - Sherwood would have to catch train back into town from Corinda.

Train staff did a good job letting people know what was happening and what to do.

Long story short, I didn't get to Milton because I didn't want to risk getting caught up in whatever track dramas which were occurring.

Safety concerns over track near Sherwood Station

Trains to Ipswich are being diverted along the Beenleigh line via Tennyson for the next hour because QR inspectors are checking a stretch of rail beside the platform at Sherwood Station.

A boring machine doing track maintenance has dug beside the rail line and QR inspectors are worried the track may not be safe.

The concerns were raised just before 3pm by Queensland Rail staff.

"It is right beside the platform at Sherwood Station," a Queensland Rail spokeswoman said.

"It has been explained that is has dug under the rail track," she said.

"We are checking to see whether or not it is unsafe."

Further details are being sought.

At least two peak hour trains on Ipswich line to City cancelled this morning without any explanation for disgruntled commuters. No advice on QR website.
