The Australian Prime Minister, the Hon Julia Gillard MP,
and the Leader of the Opposition, The Hon Tony Abbott MHR
were today invited (via Twitter) to discuss the economic bottleneck that severely restricts Queensland trade from Brisbane to Cairns, the North Coast Line.

It will, according to the Co-ordinator General's report released in November 2011, provide $4.57 Billion in output generation to the Queensland economy.
For a $300 million ($2006) outlay, it would save $430 million ($2006).

I ask the Federal leaders to show some real leadership and address this issue.
Meet with me and show Queenslanders that you care.

A tweet can easily be ignored.

Have you tried writing a letter?

So the PM would have half a day commitment-free on an interstate trip just in case some unknown person tweets an invitation at short notice?  Did anyone go to the community cabinet at Redbank Plains to raise the issue at the public meeting?

Fare's Fair was obviously a little too optimistic!  If you want to connect with the PM, or local Fed MP, the old fashioned way always works best! :D

Or even not seen by accident.

Multiple tweets were sent over a couple of hours to avoid just being lost in the twittersphere.
Direct messages were also sent to all parties.

Who knows, if you don't try you never find out.
This issue is being ignored by all sides of politics at a Federal level.

AIUI, the Redbank Plains meeting was invitation (pre-vetted) only.

Today I received a written negative response from the Federal Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, via the 'old fashioned way.'
That is always first choice ... can never say I didn't try.

Incidentally, the request from Hon Peter Slipper MP made at 9:14am on 29 February, 2012 has also been ignored by the Feds.
All does not bode well for the Speaker and the Government, despite the Commonwealth Government's legal defence of the Speaker.

Their reason for travelling to Queensland was to connect with the people and garner support for their respective political parties.

This would have been an opportunity to prove that they weren't just stage managed, pre-conceived outcome, events.
Clearly they are...

When dealing with arrogant, delusional commisairs who chose to ignore you nothing of the old fassioned ways works, for them to work requires these political incompetents to show some respect for their constituents not the contempt that is the current political attitude.

Being the cynical voter than I am, I imagine that this issue would be high on their priorities if the Sunshine Coast was a marginal Labor or marginal Federal either. Seeing as it is neither, they simply do not care.
