Interesting JP fare anomaly

A family member wishing to take the train from Kingston to the city just called me and said they'd missed the Ferny Grove train by about 10 seconds, and asked if there was any other way to get to the city (other than wait for the next train, obviously) :P

Journey planner came up with http://jp.translink.com.au/travel-information/journey-planner/your-travel-options/-1536650974

Now it says the fare is 6 zones, which I guess makes sense as Loganlea is in zone 6.  However, if using the go card as directed you should only touch off when leaving a station for rail journeys, so to touch on at Kingston and off at Central would only be charged 5 zones.

I actually recommended this as an alternative in future anyway as the total travel time is actually less (47 vs 50 min), even with the transfer, and usually it's a nicer train ;)

I was also surprised the trip is that slow.  No wonder people rather drive than take the train!  Highlights how bad Beenleigh line alignment is I guess.

Nor me now.  Seems that JP pages expire after a few minutes, which I guess is logical, it would need a massive cache otherwise.
