COMMUNITY public transport support group Rail Back on Track has called for a review into outdated local bus services following a State Government announcement on a shake up of Queensland Rail.

Transport and Main Roads director-general Michael Caltabiano has vowed that QR will be ''turned upside down''.

But Rail on Track's Robert Dow said any review into public transport should include a public review of the Brisbane City Council bus network with over half of commuters on buses instead of trains.

Services he has called into question include the Bulimba Safari 232 service as well as the 230 Bulimba and 235 Balmoral buses.

The 232 is a ''legacy'' service, set up before the establishment of Translink in 2004, which Mr Dow said was long overdue for a review.

He has also called for ''tweaks'' to the 230 and 235 services to improve efficiency.

''Tweaks to other services such as placing the 230 Bulimba and 235 Balmoral buses to both travel down Oxford Street or folding the 598/599 into an altered 590 service to provide higher frequency are low-cost and simple to do,'' he said.

Caught 232 service to Cannon Hill Plaza today,takes about 15 minutes from Pashen St Morningside,When I have car can drive there in 5 minutes!
