Brisbane Airport Corporation will develop 25 new buildings in the next five years under an ambitious new plan unveiled last week.

The 50-year masterplan by BAC's property arm, BNE Property, includes two hotels, medium-density  commercial development, a third train station, a golf course and a separate terminal for charter airlines supporting fly-in fly-out workers.

BNE Property general manager Renaye Peters said the plan would guide development of the 2700ha site to support an estimated growth of 30,000 workers in the area by 2029.

She said the resources boom made the site strategically important for many companies.

"There's no doubt that fly-in fly-out is something that's going to impact our airport with the resources boom so we're just making sure we can address that increase in demand,'' she said.

Savills associate director of research Helen Swanson said the limited availability of industrial land in the coveted Australia Trade Coast precinct meant the development would have an ``enormous impact'' on the future of Queensland.

"It's one of the most premium-grade industrial precincts in greater Brisbane because of its access to infrastructure and proximity to the CBD,'' she said.

Lord Mayor Graham Quirk said the airport expansion would play a key role in the city's plans to double its economy in the next 20 years
