Police are investigating the armed robbery of a bus driver at Cleveland last night at knifepoint.

Initial information suggests a man hailed the bus on Passage Street around 7.15pm, before entering the vehicle and threatening the driver with a knife.

The man then grabbed the driver's cash tin and fled on foot.

The driver and three passengers who were on the bus were not physically injured during the incident.

The man is described as Caucasian in appearance, in his 20's and with a slim build. He was wearing black pants, a black jumper and a black balaclava.

Anyone with information which could assist police with their investigations should contact Crime Stoppers anonymously via 1800 333 000 or crimestoppers.com.au 24hrs a day.

Crime Stoppers is a charitable community volunteer organisation working in partnership with the Queensland Police Service.

Not wanting to make light of what would be a harrowing situation for the driver, but this another reason we need cashless buses.
