On Sunday 24th January 2016 I contacted Pauline Hanson's 'Please Explain' Facebook page after media reports surrounding an LNP advertising billboard calling for a petition to upgrade the Bruce Highway to the Sunshine Coast.

Her point was that the current Federal Liberal Government did not need to petition itself for the upgrades.
Fair enough point too.

Ms Hanson is standing as a Queensland Senate candidate for her party; One Nation, at the next Federal election.

I noted that no mention was made of the rail line as an alternative to the Bruce Highway.
In a Twitter exchange I had with Seven Local (Sunshine Coast) News (who tweeted the news) I noted the fact and offered to meet with her to explain the case for #2tracks.

A meeting was arranged for Tuesday 26th January, 2016 at 3:30pm.
We chatted for 45 minutes.
I gave her a copy of my Federal Freight Case: North Coast Line Rail Duplication report.
She said that someone asked her about rail duplication in a prior media briefing at 11:00am outside the Red Sea Restaurant in Maroochydore, but she didn't have information to answer it.

She wanted to understand the issue and I explained the history and rationale and potential for funding by State and Federal Govts.
She asked relevant questions.
Ms Hanson said she'd read the report on her way back to Brisbane.

Great work Fares_Fare.

I personally don't agree with Pauline Hanson at all. However, as RBOT, we treat all parties and candidates equally, and it is great to see you do that.

I'm not a fan either,  but she makes noise and gets camera time.

Is there any value in calling it the Bruce Highway Railway Line? Might get some momentum from that and show up that upgrading the SC line is a bit like taking pressure off the Bruce.

Sunshine Coast line really should be built for speed.

Certainly worth a shot LD, it may even get (accidental) funding that way!  :-t

That's what I was thinking. Packaging up the two together. They're both national anyway!

Upgrading the train is making the Bruce 'safer', reducing congestion and increasing capacity. It does all of those things.

In all our thinking and utterances, we should state that: "An investment in the Sunshine Coast Line duplication is an investment in the Bruce Highway."  Even the RACQ believes the line should be duplicated and has said so publicly.
