Couriermail --> Key to more public transport use is simply giving the public what it wants

QuotePUBLIC transport in southeast Queensland is going backwards fast, at least metaphorically.

TransLink recently reported that 2014-15 bus patronage fell year on year by 5.5 million, a decrease of about 6.5 per cent. And Queensland Rail's Citytrain is little better, flatlining at about 51 million passengers for the last two years.

To compound the misery for commuters, traffic congestion is on the up. Brisbane City Council's figures show for January-June 2015 average daily traffic volumes increased by 3.2 per cent compared with the same period the previous year. Average morning peak network speed decreased 1km/h to 27.3km/h

None of this is good news. Southeast Queensland's population is predicted to increase by at least 25 per cent by 2031. If we aspire to be an ultra-modern, efficient global city, we must address the issue of urban mobility ...
Half baked projects, have long term consequences ...
