It always pains me to read things like this from QR. They always go on about high level stuff 'strategic', 'customer service', 'safety' and especially infrastructure as if they are improvements. But it is almost like they deliberately talk about everything except the handful of things that REALLY matter.

The reality is, Queensland Rail, at the very bottom line, doesn't provide decent service. It's "core business" or purpose is rotten. In fact, you can easily argue that almost the entire rail system is a coverage service.

- Trains aren't frequent
- It provides a peak only service and then a "community obligation level of service" at other times
- The span of frequency is very narrow (peak hour)
- There are huge capacity limitations
Negative people... have a problem for every solution. Posts are commentary and are not necessarily endorsed by RAIL Back on Track or its members.

There must be a corporate commitment to the words, not just a case of getting the words right.

There are high profile examples of this, one being Bob Hawke's statement as PM that: By 2000, no Australian child will live in poverty.

Reading through the words QR has posted, it has identified the following as being a challenge to face in the future: "escalating competition from alternative transport providers"

What are the alternatives?  Buses?  Taxis?

Very much agreed!

If they can do this, then they can work out some of the other minor ones too.  Sandgate to Shorncliffe and either full Doomben or at least partial are musts.

Quote...Lawnton to Petrie duplication...

I don't suppose we should read too much into this (ie 2 x 2 tracks)?  It would make sense...

Fully agree.

And they even think that the answer is more feeder buses.  Yawn.  Half hourly services are only useful to a captive market.

No mention in either annual report of the stage 2 timetables for FY2012/13.  :(

Because the directive has to come down from on high.
