This new service caught my eye, no doubt funded by the latest service fare increases:

The service appears to contain two loops (loops - yuck) but the service is hourly and no services on Sunday.
Which got me thinking - how would people react if the motorway or main roads were only open on Monday to Saturday
and closed on Sunday?

Catch the new 242 Wakerley to Carindale bus!

Get from Gumdale and Wakerley to Carindale shopping centre in half an hour on the new 242 bus service.

Forget about parking hassles, this quick and convenient service takes just 30 minutes to travel from Eastside Village to the Carindale interchange.

From here you can also connect to a number of high frequency services travelling to the Brisbane CBD.

The new service runs hourly, six days a week, Monday to Saturday.

Monday to Friday: 6.15am - 6.31pm

Saturday: 7.15am - 5.31pm

One word - rationing.

Treasury doesn't value public transport appropriately.  We really need to get stuck straight into the next government about resourcing new services properly so they can become more sustainable.

Think of it this way,

If you use PT, the government decides that you should stay home on Sunday.
(unless you have a car - self defeating)

is basically what that timetable is saying...

There is nothing wrong with loop buses. Would be good if they could feed the other end into the heavy rail line.

I love that 6.30 finishing service time  ::)

I don't imagine anyone who chose to live in Gumdale or Wakerley would not have a car.  Public transport is provided as an alternative for some trips not a replacement for every trip.  Look at the area - large amounts of very low density (acreage) residential.  I don't believe it's viable to give somewhere like this full service public (i.e. 5am-11pm 7 days a week) transport.  This area is a planning failure, not a transport one.  Having said that it would be nice to at least have some level of Sunday service.  This seems to be mostly targeted at people going shopping at Carindale, and the parking there on Sunday is just as bad as every other day of the week IMO.
