I really dislike the long detour around Westlake.

I think doing it with 3 routes (Gazza's way) is probably a better option, with some review of what happens at or after Indooroopilly.  Possibly adopt Gazza's plan but send one to Darra instead of via Sumner Rd, then have a Riverhills - Mt Ommaney - Sinnamon Park - Darra service as well so you avoid detours, duplication etc.
For the green route?  Mt Ommaney is still connected more directly to Darra via the 103.  It's really only an issue for the bit through the east side of Jindalee IMO.

Simon's routes are great!

Somewhere around the western loop of Westlake is where it will probably become worthwhile to interchange at Darra - it makes perfect sense to send a "high frequency" bus route to interchange with a "high frequency" train line!  ;D

I have to give TT most of the credit.

I think Simon has it right, I have no problem TBH.
I had the green route terminating at Riverhills (And you suggested, rightfully that it goes a little bit further uses the same turnaround as the green route)

But what this does is tack a rail feeder on the end instead and sends it the other way.
You wouldn't expect pax to normally ride all the way from Darra to Mt Ommaney via the red route, unless they really wanted to. Not the intention. The 103 still provides the direct connection Darra - Mt Ommaney, and coverage for Sinnamon Park.

I'd say most of the feeder pax would be from south of the Tennet St/Horizon Drive intersection.
So, you'd potentially have two flows all the time now, some people wanting to go to Mt Ommaney, some wanting to go to Darra.

I love this idea Gazza! What's needed is a very short, extreme frequency feeder bus that goes from Mt Ommaney to Darra train station and that's it. maybe if they get more $$$ they can extend to Inala, but for now they just need the connection.

There are 4 trains per hour in both directions, so the bus should ideally have 8 services per hour, or 7.5 minute frequency ex Mt Ommaney Shopping Centre all day. I know this sounds like a lot, but the shuttle is short which allows us to spend the $$$ on FREQUENCY!

Similar extreme frequency short shuttle services operate in Melbourne.

I thought I'd repost this image as it will help explain my idea the best.

Firstly, delete the 450/453/454 routes and replace it with a 450 BUZ that follows the blue line and then continues along Sumners Rd to Riverhills West.  Secondly, re-route the 460 from Sinnamon Park R'bout back up onto Dandenong/Yalambee Rd and follow the Pink line to Indooroopilly.  The 460 would be truncated at Indooroopilly.  With the 444, P88 and 450 BUZ to the city, that's 12 buses/hour to connect with.

In the off peak, the 453/454 uses 7 buses on it's rotation and the 460 uses 5 buses.  By truncating the 460 you can save 1 bus.  I estimate the 450BUZ as I proposed will use 9 buses.  This means there is a net increase of only 1 bus.  I also believe that you would need to operate the 452 (hourly to start with) all day as well with a deviation or re-route up to Mt Ommaney Shops.  This would also require a bus making a net increase of 2.  Basically for an extra 2 buses, you could provide a far better service than currently is offered and give an all day service to Sumners Rd.  The 468 would also be re-routed to service Sinnamon Villiage instead of the 450/453.

I haven't worked out what exactly to do with the rockets as yet although the P461 will be chopped out or truncated to Richlands Station.

^ I think in an ideal world both the blue and pink routes would terminate at a small interchange at Jindalee allowing people to transfer to a service which goes non-stop from Mt Ommaney to Indooroopilly and beyond.  Maybe one would be merged with the 468, and the other would feed back towards Darra.  Both would operate at BUZ frequencies and connect with the city bound BUZ.

As it stands, I think we are stuck with going as far as Indooroopilly with the current constraints.  (Uunless they want to play with the off-ramp layout at Jindalee, build a small transfer station on the eastern side of the overpass, put an pedestrian overpass in to allow people to get to the north-bound BUZ over the river without it deviating off the motorway etc).

I really want to see us moving, as far as possible, to a network where you only have to remember one route number to get to any general area, and your local route if you don't live on one of those.  A lot more interchanging with rail as well.
