This is becoming my new obsession >:D

  • Connect with Ipswich (inc. express) & Richlands trains at Darra
  • Connect with 110/115 at Beatty Rd
  • Short walk to connect with 117 near Boundary Rd & Beaudesert Rd
  • Short walk to connect with Gold Coast/Beenleigh trains at Coopers Plains
  • Service Sunnybank Plaza/Sunny Park/Market Square Shopping Centres
  • Short walk to connect with 130/140 at McCullough St & Mains Rd
  • Improve service level along Padstow Rd
  • Transfer to 150 or 545 (Underwood, Woodridge, Logan Central) at Logan Rd

I really like this.  It also looks like you could possibly do away with the 155.

Yes I think you're right re 155. It's only hourly for most of the day so no great loss. It'd like this  to be at least 15 min peak/30 off. Who knows maybe one day we'll see the first cross-town BUZ although I think other routes would warrant it first, e.g. 590 or Indooroopilly-Carindale.

Edit: GU pax could change to 135 at Troughton Rd or 120 at Garden City.

Not convinced about Logan Rd vs just using Kessels Rd.

Cutting 155 reduces frequency to Nathan campus in off peak to hourly. I'd probably suggest a shuttle Gu busway - Nathan campus - Sunnybank Plaza - Altandi or boosted 135 at least in conjunction with cutting 155 if deemed necessary otherwise it could be painful.

Keeping in mind that one of the main points of the 155 would be Griffith University Nathan rather than just serving that stretch of Padstow road.

BUZ 135.  Via Stones Rd LX and don't just follow the 130 route from Algester Rd.  That's a very dumb missed opportunity.

Jonas Jade

The 135 goes via Hellawell Road, so there's your service for there  :-t

This realignment is not going to happen.  BT will never agree to it as the level crossing caused a fatality, which is why the route was realigned in the first place.

Re the 155 - you can find another option rather than duplicating a great deal of the 150 (one that relies on interchanging perhaps)?

I think you are right, but hasn't work been done on the LX in the S2K triple.  What makes the LX safe for cars but unsafe for buses?

The other part of the realignment seems reasonable though doesn't it?  In fact, I'd be tempted to put the 135 through Ridgewood Rd and perhaps then Nottingham Rd while having the 130 stick to Algester Rd.

re 155: As I suggested above, either a new frequent shuttle route to enable transfers:

Gu Busway - Nathan Campus - Sunnybank Plaza - Altandi (Limited stops, allowing interchange) which is my preferred option.

or upgraded frequency to the (or BUZ as Simon suggested) 135. But, I don't really think it needs to go all the way to the CBD though except at peak university times - these routes are ideal for truncating because there are turnaround facilities at GU busway, and the distance to the CBD is significant enough to save time/resources, and the services at the Busway are frequent enough & same platform to have minimal time delays.

But I don't think its wise to advocate deleting the 155 as an after thought without suggesting one occurring. I agree the doubled up 150 leg is wasteful though.

somebody

Turnaround exists at GU, but I don't think there is anywhere to lay over.  That means you need to immediately start your return run without having recovery time.

Correct me if I am wrong?

Jonas Jade

There's that outer stop where the roundabout is.... I'm sure I've seen buses waiting there... or is that only used by intercampus shuttle?

Clearance issues - buses can bottom out or go for a scrape on it.  I am surprised it wasn't closed to be honest.

Hmm, it's not at all obvious there is a problem in Google Street view

somebody

If the clearance is seriously an issue which is impossible to avoid, then they should truncate the 135, and have another route covering Stones Rd/Jackson Rd and the bit of Parkinson not so well covered by the 130.

It's rather steep on both sides, and with increasing numbers of larger buses on the road they would be less likely than ever to resume using this route.
