If they are going to operate 4 TPH off peak beyond Darra on the Ipswich line in terms of numbers of passengers carried it is beyond stupidity to turn the services back at Redbank rather than to run the 4 TPH from Ipswich.

And yet that is exactly what is proposed in Conn'ing QLD 2031.

Redbank seems like a "nowhere" destination for UrbanLink 4TPH services, as does Loganlea IMHO (although Loganlea at least has the hospital, TAFE, etc.)..
Just as in NSW the pollies seem to cower before Treasury bureaucrats, in QLD the pollies cower before Rail workers who say that it is too hard to have reasonable rail services without more infrastructure than what is presently there, which is never enough.

Where have you gotten the idea 4tph can't be done to Manly/Strathpine?!?

If you're referring to the other thread where I basically shot the idea down in flames (in regards to Manly), that was 6tph, including 4tph all stops Manly - City and 2tph EXPRESS MANLY - PARK ROAD.

How about everyone gets onto the same page for once, it may just give the place some credability in the eyes of the Government. 4tph could fairly easily be achieved to Manly, but it would be 4tph all stations.
All opinions stated are my own and do not reflect those held by my employer.

Someone did say that 4tph to Petrie would require track amplification Lawnton-Petrie in another thread, which raised my ire.

4tph Strathpine is a mediocre option as there is no proper turnback facility there.  The only way you could do that is by running up the middle road, standing on it and then running back.  Little else could use the middle road on that option.  Petrie makes far more sense to me.

I have repeatedly suggested even a basic 30 min manly and 30 min cleveland and been shot down, same goes for Kuraby.

One thing I constantly keep hearing and not understanding specifically related to shornecliffe is the crew change - what does this exactly entail and why is it necessary.
"Where else but Queensland?"

The Cleveland line suggestion is fine, but the Beenleigh line suggestion would result in a slower Gold Coast service in one direction.  The latter seems unlikely to me.

Re: Shorncliffe. The idea works like this: Sandgate-Shorncliffe-Sandgate is a 4 minute run, and there is an 8 minute turnaround requirement at Shorncliffe.  That makes it tight to get a 15 minute frequency.  The idea is to shortcut the 8 minute turnaround by having the crew which operated from Sandgate get out of the train and an alternate crew get in and operate to Sandgate (and beyond).

Indeed.

However, it would allow less travel time for ExpressLink services from Ipswich to Central because they could skip more stations.

Redbank is the closest railway station for all Collingwood Park residents. When Collingwood Park is fully developed, it will house several times its current population.

Developments planned for Collingwood Park include higher density housing in the 77 hectare site called Corymbia Woods http://www.robertsday.com.au/downloads/project_corymbia.pdf which is planned to contain 1966 dwellings. The developer has gone into receivership, like many in the last few years, so this project may take a few years longer to complete than originally expected. There is also a large residential development approved for an 85 hectare site bordering Six Mile Creek in Collingwood Park.

Also, only one of the many blocks zoned for 3 storey units between the railway station & Redbank Plaza has been developed to 3 storey units. There will be many more unit blocks in this area in 5-10 years & Redbank will be a far busier station than it currently is. Likewise, there will be numerous unit blocks withing walking distance of Goodna Station that will siginficantly increase the walk up patronage.

Goodna & Redbank will need UrbanLink services more than a decade before 2031.

Hang on, the new version of Connecting SEQ 2031 has REMOVED the Redbank "UrbanLink" service that was in the draft version.  What the heck is this stabling for?

I think it will probably be to combine with the proposed triple to remove Goodna!!??, Gailes and Wacol from the Ipswich/Rosewood stopping pattern.  Peak time all stoppers will start at Redbank while Springfield trains will run express, probably Darra/Indro/Milton but could be a different pattern.

Track arrangements at Darra do not sit well with such a service though.

Part of the strategy for Redbank stabling is to allow some local maintenance as well.

Coal is the priority out west Colin ....  :P

Goodna and Riverview, are getting their own Super-XXXX-Link trains, as befits stations with reversed platform numbers. They forget to list it along with the ExpressLink and UrbanLink and the HopeLink ....
