Banging my drum again on this project - to incorporate rail into the proposed (not committed to) inner-orbital road tunnel built in Brisbane (ie, basically "Route 20") - even if it was initally, just the capacity for the future addition of rail - as I believe they did with the Tugan Bypass Tunnel (might be wrong).

This would allow purpose built construction and therefore lower long-term cost.  A line from somewhere around Toowong/Taringa to Everton Park way (ie, likely link would be into Ferny Grove line, but other options should be tabled), with select stops along the way, would not be a long-term liability for Brisbane and the opportunity MAY well present itself to do it.  It would be a pitty to waste such an opportunity on a road only tunnel - which is though greatly needed!  Road + Rail would make the whole project and process more socially and politcally appealing for the Govt!  ;)

PLEASE DON'T MISS THE OPPORTUNITY!

SEQ, where our only "fast-track" is in becoming the rail embarrassment of Australia!   :frs:

Thanks.... I guess a very basic service running direct from Springfield Lakes to the station would be too much to ask for.

I am already catching the bus from Springfield Lakes to Goodna Station and then the train from Goodna to the city... takes me about one hour.  Trip is ok but catching a train from Richlands would be much easier!

Time for my annual bump for this much needed piece of infrastructure, hopefully built WITH rail capacity.  :pr

I think the cash pile is rather exhausted as it is, though there may be an opportunity to lay a few freight tracks in the trouts road corridor. This would allow freight to bypass a large part of the network and go straight to mayne.

I'd certainly like to hear from both Bligh and Newman, on where they, respectively, stand regards this long overdue piece of roadwork!    :pr
